Goa Sunsplash is India’s largest celebration of reggae music. Founded in 2016, the festival moved from Anjuna to Mandrem in 2018. Past headliners have included Mad Professor, Johnny Osbourne, General Levy, Zion Train, Manudigital, Cali P, Skarra Mucci and Brother Culture. The festival is focused on becoming a complete cultural experience and is proud to be the home of India’s first hand crafted reggae sound system,10,000 Lions.
Reggae music in India is a growing scene. Artists from various parts of the subcontinent are becoming popular all over the country and Reggae is now a staple to party culture in India. International icons like Shaggy, The Wailers, UB40 and Julian Marley have all toured India in recent years. Furthermore, two hand made reggae sound systems in the country are both changing the way that audiences in India listen to reggae. Goa Sunsplash is an expression of this bubbling energy, a platform for this movement to build upon.
